Team 1100 is based in Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough, MA. The regional high school consists of students from the towns of Northborough and Southborough, but the team is not limited to those two groups. Due to the expensive nature of this activity, not every school is fortunate enough to have its own robotics team. We therefore open our team to students from surrounding towns (including private schools) which do not offer a robotics program. We now have a very diverse membership that includes students from Hudson, Marlborough, and as far away as Sutton. Our team is a mix of all grades (9-12), cultures, genders, and talents. What unites us (beyond our obvious love of technology) is our respect for one another's opinions, our willingness to put the team above our own agenda, and most of all, the dedicated mentorship of so many talented individuals.
Over the past four years, our team roster has doubled. The reason for that is twofold. Firstly, our team's involvement in the community has allowed many to learn about FIRST and its mission. Secondly, our students continually sing the praises of the fun and knowledge they acquire as part of this organization. Many team members invite friends to our summer meetings, and those friends are now signing up as members of the team. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook!
